Purpose of conferences
These conferences will talk about what will happen if the ILSC becomes the PBC for Birriman-gan native title holders and ask questions of the ILSC including:
- How an ILSC agent PBC would work;
- How native title holders would interact with the ILSC PBC; and
- Other questions that are important to native title holders to help everyone be as informed as possible to decide the PBC.
Why is it important?
Native Title Holders should be fully informed before making any decision about the PBC. This includes being fully informed about the differences between a Birriman-gan PBC and a ILSC PBC as there are some very big differences. The ILSC has considered those differences since the last time they spoke to the Birriman-gan Native Title Holders, and some of the legal and practical differences are very important to understand before a final decision is made. This includes issues like there will be no rule book for an ILSC PBC, and how native title decisions will be made and managed.
