Yawuru native title holders benefit from the highest standards of decision making.

Yawuru was awarded the Reconciliation Australia 2018 Indigenous Governance Awards, recognising the high quality of Yawuru’s corporate and cultural governance.  We are proud to be recognised for increasing knowledge and active engagement in the cultural and corporate governance by our community. Yawuru Corporate Group Governance Development Program and invests in a governance development program to build the capacity of all the Yawuru Boards.


Yawuru PBC

The Yawuru PBC Board has 12 Directors; six directors with responsibility for customary laws and six directors chosen by members.



Murra Mala Yawuru

Murra Mala Yawuru is a holding company that allows the PBC to create a separate business arm of the Corporate Group.



Nyamba Buru Yawuru

As part of the 2010 Yawuru Agreements the native title holders established Nyamba Buru Yawuru Ltd (NBY) to make sure that the obligations and opportunities emerging from the Global Agreement are managed and advanced. Nyamba Buru Yawuru is the Yawuru operational arm. It manages Yawuru’s commercial assets, employs staff, undertakes development and does business to generate sustainable income. Nyamba Buru Yawuru is established under the Corporations Act, and the Board is comprised of up to five Yawuru directors and two independent directors who have commercial and legal expertise.
